Brittany by motorhome:itinerary, advice and organization

Brittany is a favorite region of our country for the French and motorhome owners. The reasons are simple and multiple:essential destination to admire splendid and sometimes still wild landscapes. In addition, lovers of shellfish and fish take the opportunity to indulge in gastronomic stops on the terrace of the many restaurants found around the fishing ports where the fresh fish has just been delivered. Brittany is still a whole way of life and part of our cultural heritage anchored in our roots. You will find many spots to stop in the evening in peace. We have chosen to show you a coastal route as there are so many things to see, but the list is not exhaustive.

Carnac

Depart from Carnac and admire the fabulous alignments of the eponymous name of the city. 2,934 standing stones of this major site proudly contemplate you. Take the opportunity to take a tour of the Museum of Prehistory to find out about its origin. After having eaten on the terrace of one of the restaurants on the main beach, you can admire the view of the Bay of Quiberon and walk for 2 km. If you wish, you can then go and see the dolmens de Mane Karioned before reaching a very nice motorhome area near Vannes.

Valves

This fortified city is characterized by very narrow streets in the historic center separating half-timbered houses many colors and dating on average from the 16th century. After visiting the medieval center, you can go to the city walls and admire the Prison Gate. Place des Lices hosts a market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings where you will find long stalls of shellfish and fresh fish. If you wish, you can embark on a boat trip at the port offering you to discover the Gulf of Morbihan including many islands, the most famous of which is Île aux Moines. In the evening, you can return to the same area to sleep or choose a campsite according to your desires.

Quiberon peninsula

On its own, the Quiberon peninsula deserves a stopover of several days. Near the Haliguen port, you can park, but be careful, it is not possible to spend the night there in high season. Prefer a campsite nearby. You will be able to walk on the market at the port and still acquire local or seafood products. If you hike, you can follow the sea to the Pointe du Conguel . Take the time to appreciate this magnificent place, indulge in water sports and why not, discover it on a paddle quietly with family or friends.

Island of Groix

From Lorient, embark for 40 minutes on a boat to visit this wonderful legendary island. We advise you to leave your motorhome on the mainland and embark. Arrived on the island, you can spend the day renting bicycles and go around it. You will be totally disoriented by this natural site where you can only hear the sound of the wind and the song of the birds. Admire the Pointe de l'Enfer and made stops on the fine sandy beaches. If you wish, you will also find scooters to rent or even carts if you are accompanied by children. As you hike, you will come across cliffs plunging steeply into the sea, but also gentler landscapes. The coastal path remains closed to bicycles. You can deposit them in places provided for this purpose and discover the panoramas on foot. If you walk, you can complete the route of Pointe des Chats and that of Pen Men for the most seasoned.

Concarneau

When you arrive in the Moros estuary , you can visit the beautiful town of Concarneau. This fortified city with stone walls is magnificent with its fishing port and its bay of the same name. Take the opportunity to visit the Fishing Museum where you will learn a lot about what has made the life of the inhabitants of the region for centuries. Go and have a look at the auction at the foot of the ramparts if you want to buy fresh fish. If you don't feel like walking too much, take the little train that will take you around the city. Go for a stroll on the Sables Blancs beach during high low tide, the lights are splendid there. Do not miss the castle of Kériolet with its surprising architecture. Close to the place, several stops are possible thanks to many spots, areas and campsites depending on your wishes. You will also find a service area for your fill-ups. Close to the place, still enjoy Pont-Aven, a very charming flowery village and Bénodet, a postcard landscape. If the weather is good, be sure to taste one of the famous ice creams that this charming little town is famous for.

Crozon peninsula

Arriving on the Crozon peninsula, put your motorhome in one of the places dreamed of by all motorhome owners and go for a walk on the GR34 in the direction of Cap de la Chèvre. You're going to take your eyes off it's so beautiful. This landscape is natural, raw, windy and destabilizing, but what a superb panorama and still unique view. At the peninsula, you can choose a campsite to sleep there for a very comfortable price. Still on the GR34, the next day, do Ilot du Diable and Îlot des Capucins . You will be able to see the sea seeping with gigantic force between chalky cliffs. More thrills guaranteed and beautiful photos.

Pink Granite Coast

Now, let's go to discover the Breton jewel that is the Côte de Granit Rose . To discover it, you will leave from Perros-Guirec to the bay of Lannion. This rocky coastline will amaze you whether in Trébeurden or Lannion, you can admire breathtaking sea landscapes and breathtaking views. You can make a stop at the port of Ploumanac'h then visit the castle of Coastaérès in Trégastel. If you feel like it, you can still visit the Seven Islands . Also discover the Cap d'Erquy, Fréhel and Bréhat along with the pink sandstone cliffs and their many wild beaches. Next to Cap Fréhel, discover Fort La Latte which is an extraordinary medieval jewel. In a very close radius you have many areas, campsites and other structures to stop for one or more days, because the place is really worth spending some time there.

Saint Malo

Saint-Malo was once the stronghold of pirates. Visit this beautiful city in Northern Brittany with your children who can dream of the battles of Captain Hook on its famous ramparts. Listen to the cry of gulls and let yourself be lulled by the backwash of the waves. You can still see the Red and White Lighthouse if only for the panorama that the place still offers to view. In the city, discover the Fort National of 1689 and above all, taste the Craquelins if you are a little hungry discovering all the hidden treasures of Saint-Malo.

Dinan

After this wonderful journey, end your excursion in the medieval town of Dinan . Overlooking the Rance River, Dinan is a jewel with an extraordinary heritage. Taste the Kouign-Amann which is a succulent sausage patty. Climb the cobbled rue du Jerzual where you can admire many artisan shops. Don't miss a visit to the Bastide Saint-Sauveur and the English Gardens. Take a boat to discover the immediate environment of Dinan or stroll around the port before going to treat yourself to the terrace of the many restaurants offering you succulent specialities.

All around the city you will find many places to park your motorhome . It's up to you to make your choice, especially if you stay there for one night or several days before leaving for other equally magnificent places that we cannot name here because there are so many of them.
