Diets:Dukan would be the worst of all

Is the Dukan diet bad? In any case, this is the conclusion of the American newspaper US News, which evaluated 41 diets and ranked them from most to least effective. With health experts, they based themselves on 4 criteria:short-term weight loss, long-term weight loss, ease of following it and its health benefits. For the newspaper, "a diet must be easy to follow, nutritious, healthy, effective in weight loss and protect against diabetes and heart disease". It is therefore no surprise that the Dukan diet ranks last among the best diets:the high-protein method is very restrictive. It has been proven that you lose a lot of weight in the first week, up to 10 kilos. But once the diet is over, many people regain weight. In addition, as we eat mainly protein, we take the risk of weakening the kidneys in the long term and of having nutritional deficiencies. So yes, this diet is effective in the short term, but is not necessarily healthy and is complicated to follow, due to the many rules imposed. US News rated this diet 1.9/5.

The Mediterranean diet is the best

Just before the Dukan method, we find the Body Reset diet, in 40th place with a 2/5. He is hypo-caloric, that is to say that he brings very few calories to the body. Divided into 3 phases of 5 days, the Body Reset invites to drink 3 smoothies instead of meals during the 1st phase, then we replace one with solid in the 2nd phase, to finally drink only one smoothie and eat 2 meals in the last 5 days. The main flaw of this diet is that it is not nutritious. But then, what is the best diet? Not surprisingly yet, we find the Mediterranean diet in first place in the ranking. This diet allows you to eat fruits and vegetables, fish, olive oil without moderation, while limiting the consumption of red meat. Much less restrictive than the other two, this very nutritious diet would also be good for the heart, which earned it a score of 4.2/5. However, before initiating any diet or dietary change, it is recommended to speak with a doctor. The full ranking is available on the US News site.
