Eating too often in restaurants is bad for your health

To reach this conclusion, the researchers looked at the level of phthalates present in the human body. So they brought together more than 10,000 people who had to indicate what they had eaten in the last 24 hours. An analysis of their urine was also carried out. Results ? The 6,100 participants who reported having dined at the restaurant the day before had an upper body phthalate level of 35% compared to the rest of the group. A maddening rate!

Fast food in the crosshairs

And it is no surprise that we learn that products from fast food chains are particularly affected. The researchers took care to analyze the sandwiches, burgers and other fast food dishes offered by the major chains and the result is clear. They contain higher levels of phthalates than any other food tested! This could be explained by the packaging of food, plastic being used a lot in these signs... And since who says fast food says teenagers, it is the teenagers who are the most affected by this problem. Also according to the study, those who eat regularly in fast food have 55% more chemicals in the body than those who eat lunch at home! In addition, they are “more vulnerable to the toxic effects of hormone-disrupting chemicals, so it is important to find ways to limit their exposure,” says the study’s lead author, Julia Rosshavsky.
