Owning a dog would lead to a longer life

There is no longer any doubt that a pet transforms the life of its owner for the better by bringing him love, tenderness and moments of complicity. But that's not all:its presence can also be beneficial, according to a recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, and published in the journal Scientific Reports . They claim that the dog (its role as man's best friend is even more legitimate) has a largely positive effect on the health of its master since it would contribute to reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, health problems and even death. Even more surprising:these benefits would be particularly true for single people, as explained by Tove Fall, a scientist who participated in the research. “Singleness has been shown to be a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and owning a dog appears to offset this additional risk .

Healthier lifestyles

Other interesting information:hunting dogs like those of the retriever family (ladrador, golden retriever, Nova Scotia retriever, etc.) and terriers would be the most likely to extend the life of their human. So how to explain this quasi-supernatural power of doggies? While researchers don't claim to have the absolute truth, they do claim that dogs are the source of healthier lifestyles and happier moods. The scale of the study is enough to make the findings believable:some 3.4 million Swedes were surveyed over a 12-year period. This is not the first time that science has proven that it is good to be surrounded by a dog:the animal would indeed help to sleep better and reduce stress and anxiety in children. If you've always dreamed of owning a four-legged friend, that's enough to convince the reluctant person(s) who stood in your way (we wonder what Bibi will have to say to that!). But don't forget, it's to the shelters that you have to turn to improve the life of an adorable ball of fur...
