The 3 great benefits of green tea

Tea, after water, is the most consumed drink in the world. In addition to being a good ally during long TV evenings or when low temperatures arrive, it is also excellent for health and has many benefits:it stimulates the metabolism and prevents colds, helps the absorption of fats and even energizes the brain!

1/ It maintains food balance

Green tea is considered the drink with the strongest antioxidant activity. Antioxidants neutralize the free radicals present in our body, which are particularly involved in several diseases such as diabetes or cancer but also in aging (and yes, tea is in a way the water of modern youth!) The strongest antioxidant in a cup of green tea is called EGCG, and while the name might not sound like it, it does have a lot of benefits! It accelerates the oxidation of fats and regulates weight, lowers the production of glucose in the liver and thus fights against hyperglycemia but above all, according to several studies, it would be a good asset for preventing the risk of cancer... Not bad, no ?

2/ It stimulates the brain

Green tea contains caffeine but also L-theanine. A study published in Psychopharmacology suggests that the combination of the two would participate in the stimulation of the brain, and in particular the working memory. We also note that L-theanine is used to release certain neurotransmitters, thus, it increases the level of dopamine (hormone of happiness) and regulates mood. What do we like? Its activity on our brain effectively reduces stress!

3/ It sharpens taste and smell

In addition to being good for the body and for brain activity, green tea enriches the culture of taste and educates the palate. There are about 1,500 varieties of green teas around the world, mostly from Taiwan, China and Japan. Whether you taste it plain or sweet, hot or iced, but also according to the infusion time, its many modes of consumption are as many different flavors to capture thanks to taste but also to smell! For tasting, we prefer loose and organic teas, such as those offered by La route des Comptoirs (between €6 and €11 for 100 g) or Le Palais des thés (between €8 and €20 for 100 g).
