Sleep:good reasons to sleep cool

Do you pay attention to the temperature in your bedroom? As a general rule, we try to get it to the "right temperature", neither too hot nor too cold, but we don't really look at the thermometer. And yet, it seems to be a mistake. According to Dr. Christopher Winter, medical director at the Charlottesville Neurology and Sleep Medicine Clinic, the ideal bedroom temperature is between 15 and 19 degrees. He specifies that below 12 degrees and above 23 degrees, sleep can be downright disturbed.

Quality sleep

How to explain this ideal temperature (it seems a bit chilly to us anyway!)? Body temperature varies during the day, with a peak of heat in the early afternoon and a peak of coolness around 5 a.m. When we fall asleep, the body naturally cools down. Thus, going to bed in an already cool room facilitates this process of falling asleep as well as deep sleep. Conversely, in a room that is too hot, you risk spinning for a loooong moment before falling into the arms of Morpheus. And that's not all:who says fast sleep says deeper sleep. The night thus helps us to recover better. Studies have also shown that sleeping in a room between 15 and 19 degrees favors the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone, also known for its anti-aging properties. Finally, sleeping in a cool environment helps burn calories.

In other words, it's all good! Shall we get started?
