Dairy products:beware of overconsumption

Between 2013 and 2016, the consumption of cow's milk by the French fell by an average of 10 liters per person per year, according to the National Milk Syndicate, from 61 to 51 liters. For several years, the benefits of milk have indeed been widely questioned. In 2007, in his book Milk, lies and propaganda , the scientific journalist Thierry Souccar explains that a consumption of three to four dairy products per day (i.e. what is recommended by the Ministry of Health) is excessive. Not to mention banning dairy products, the journalist talks about consuming only what is necessary for us. Indeed, excessive consumption of cow's milk and its derivatives could increase the risk of disease. But there's no need to freak out...

Don't overdo the good stuff

A report by ANSES (the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety) explains that each time we increase our daily consumption of dairy products by 400 grams, the chance to have prostate cancer increases by 9%. This same report explains that there is a link between the quantity of product consumed in a person and the increase in certain diseases in this same person. Dairy products are also criticized for containing lactose, which can complicate digestion. Finally, when you are allergic to milk proteins, you can be prone to vomiting and hives. However, milk is certainly not to be banned from our diet. It and its derivatives have important nutritional contributions, in particular calcium, which strengthens bones and teeth, as well as proteins and lipids which are energy sources. Let it be said:France is still the leading consumer country of dairy products.

We will have understood:milk, cheeses and yogurts, yes, but in moderation. Well noted!
