Eat fruit, yes, but not too much!

Whether you're a fan of peaches and cherries, a follower of the frugivorous diet or just love to cool off in summer by biting into waterlogged melons and watermelons (provided you choose them well…):fruits , we love them! But even if they are delicious, often low in calories and contain a lot of antioxidants, they are - like everything - to be consumed in moderation. And this for at least 5 reasons.

1/ Eating only fruit - even for a short time - can be harmful to our health. When we see the stars melt like ice cubes on the beach after a frugivorous diet, we are sometimes tempted to try. Except that in real life, eating ONLY fruit harms the proper functioning of our body. And the repercussions can be disastrous! Deficiencies, anemia, severe fatigue, depression… And then, as with most diets, you end up freaking out and engulfing all the pastries that go into vacuum mode. Frustration ? No ! Moderation ? Yes!

2/ Replacing proteins/starches with fruits in order to lose weight… actually pushes us to eat more. Those who swap their plaster of pasta or part of their meal with an apple have experienced this:fruits, low in calories, hardly provide a real feeling of satiety. For a snack? It goes ! But for a real meal:we remain on our hunger! Same for sugar needs:unlike what happens when we absorb other forms of sugar, when we eat apples or peaches, our body does not release insulin. Conclusion:to be satiated, our body will want more. And we risk 1/ eating more (and therefore gaining weight), 2/ disturbing our nutritional balance, 3/ transforming ourselves into an ogre who eats everything that passes or a hungry monster who ogles the slightest food like Gollum with the ring ("my preciousuuuux"). Either way, it's not "glop"!

3/ It is not good for the arteries. Doctors repeat it:rather than eating 5 fruits and vegetables a day, it is better to eat 4 servings of vegetables and 1 of fruit. Because fruit is high in sugar (no, smoothies are not a light tip at all, even if it is very good, fresh and rich in vitamins). Moreover, a study by the University of Colorado, carried out on 4,500 people, showed that those who ate more than 74g of fructose per day increased their risk of suffering from blood pressure by 87%.

4/ It bloats. Yes, because the mode of digestion of fruits and vegetables is fermentation. Basically, our belly turns into giant compost. Beans and cherries rot there. It releases gas. At best:our belly grows. At worst:he decides to express himself ("prout!"). Besides, we all know post-"too many cherries" or "too much melon" diarrhea. Not easy when it starts in the middle of a walk with Loulou...

5/ Your dentist will not be happy. Because the acidity of fruits and fructose can damage the enamel (beware of the morning glass of lemon juice!) while dried fruits have the art of sticking to our teeth, which can cause cavities. An advice ? Brush your teeth at least twice a day. And after taking a fruit, wait half an hour before brushing, so as not to remove enamel, which softens for a few minutes with the acidity of the fruit.

So to fruit, we say a big yes! But with measure. Yum!
