Omicron variant:infected people can again be infected with the BA.2 sub-variant

On Tuesday, February 1, Israeli public broadcaster Kan. reported that several people who had been infected with the Omicron variant lately had been infected again by its sub-variant:BA.2. Vaccinations, boosters and past infections would therefore prevent new contamination from being avoided. to this new Covid threat. The journalists of i24news, however, wanted to reassure the population by specifying:"There are currently only less than a dozen cases, and it is not yet known whether these infected people presented comorbidities . »

Variant Omicron:why can you still catch Covid after a first contamination?

If the risks of reinfection with the variant Omicron after an infection with the variant Delta were already known since January, they were also less in terms of effects. However, this risk of recontamination was even higher for people who had contracted an asymptomatic form of the disease, and who therefore suffered a weak immune response.

This case is therefore repeated again with the sub-variant BA.2 and worries the health authorities. And for good reason:the "BA.2" would be much more contagious than the "BA.1" strain. The arrival would therefore lead to a third more cases of contamination and would therefore be 30% more contagious than BA.1.
