I exercise 'only' two hours a week

Do you also feel that you have to exercise for hours to achieve results? That you burn more calories the longer your workout is? It may just be that you get tired when you think about exercising, because you have no idea where you can cram it into your busy schedule. Then we can reassure you. Our sports experts from Studio C Online, Christina and Heidy, explain to you how just 45 minutes of exercise a week can make a world of difference.

Christina and I (Heidy) are in training. To do this, we had to fill in a questionnaire, which included the question 'How many hours a week do you exercise?'. Although I train 4-5 times a week, I came to the conclusion that that added up to 'only' 1.5 to at most 2.5 hours of exercise per week. That surprised me quite a bit! Especially because I feel super fit and strong and I'm brimming with energy. And that with only about two hours of sports a week… But how exactly is that possible?

Short and intensive training

Ultimately, it's about the total picture of your lifestyle. In addition to healthy food, the right supplementation and the necessary relaxation, I focus on short and intensive workouts. 15 to 30 minutes of intense exercise a few times a week is more than enough to enjoy all kinds of health benefits. Think, for example, of a higher energy level, a better condition, a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, an improved resistance, an increased metabolism and of course a feeling of self-confidence. You don't have to work up a sweat for hours a week, trust us!

How does it work?

If you focus in 15 or 30 minutes, give everything, let your heart rate go up and down in intervals and/or work your muscles well, you will become strong and fit. So you don't have to walk, cycle or sit on the cross trainer for hours. All kinds of scientific studies have shown that short training has positive effects on your cardiovascular condition, your muscle strength and your fat percentage.

In other words, in 45 minutes a week (3 times a 15-minute workout) you can already make a world of difference in terms of your physical and mental health and your energy level.

This is how you make time

There are 168 hours in a week. We sleep on average 56 of that. So you have 112 hours left for all your daily activities. That's 6720 minutes! So 45 minutes is only 0.67% of your time. If you make it 6 sessions of 15 minutes or 3 sessions of 30 minutes, we are talking about 1.33% of your time.

And yes, that time is often busy with all kinds of things. We know all about that! However, we also know that a lot of that time is spent on things that are not necessarily necessary, such as social media (we spend way too much time on that ourselves). Fifteen minutes of social media basically does nothing for you, except that you feed your dopamine addiction with it;)

However, 15 minutes of intensive training will give you much more, even time! It gives you more space in your head and more energy, so you get many more tasks done and you are a nicer and more relaxed wife/mother. And it also contributes to a longer and more vital life – what more could you want?
