Why varying your workouts is good for your body

Summer is just around the corner. Time to take a closer look at your exercise/workout routine. Or to make a new start if you haven't done much during the corona lockdown. If you exercise/exercise regularly, you probably have a favorite workout. However, it pays to step out of your comfort zone. Are you the walking type? Then try a HIIT workout. Do you always do the same fitness routine in the gym? Adjust your exercises. Read here why it is important to vary your workout routine.

1. You don't get bored

If you do the same thing too often, it gets boring. When boredom strikes, your motivation disappears and you are likely to give up. That's the last thing you want, of course. Especially with summer approaching. To prevent this, it is important to alternate training sessions. Alternate running with a nice HIIT workout. Or a dance lesson. Or strength training. The variation makes your brain think again, makes you happy and makes you want to go for your next run again.

2. You don't reach a ceiling

Variation in your movement form/training ensures that your training sessions remain effective. Maybe you were on the treadmill for 20 minutes every day before the gyms closed. Although you are exercising nicely, you are absolutely not training effectively. At a certain point, that will no longer affect your body.

Are you planning on doing this again now that gyms reopen in July? Because you have not been able to do this for several months, your body is used to it. So it's time for something 'new'. However, as soon as you notice that you can fill those 20 minutes without any problems and you are also chatting with your neighbor, it is time for a change.

Do you want to get stronger and fitter? Maximum result? Increase your resistance or speed, for example.
Variation does not always have to be something completely different. More repetitions, more weight, a different way of performing exercises is enough not to reach a ceiling.

3. Your body needs time to recover

We have already said it in previous blogs, getting stronger is important to (stay) fitter and healthier in life. Strength training is good for muscle toning, fat burning, better posture, facilitating daily activities, stronger bones and preventing injuries.

However, training your muscles is also hard on your body. Taking enough time to recover is crucial for results and to prevent injuries. It is therefore important to alternate your heavier workouts with low-intensity workouts (pilates, barre, stretching, walking, cycling, swimming, rollerblading).

Their studio stands for variation, variety and originality. Not a workout is the same. For example, you can choose from Studio HIIT, Studio Strength and Studio Fire. These are tough workouts, it's better not to do them every day. In addition, you can choose from Studio Barre, Studio Sculpt (dance and aerobics in combination with arm/buttocks/core), Studio Power Pilates and Studio Stretch &Relax. These are training sessions of a lower intensity that can be nicely alternated with the heavy training sessions.
And if you are a beginner, you can start very nicely with the lighter workouts and slowly build up to the heavy workouts.
