The ideal socks during your workout

Do you think about which socks to wear when you exercise? Ideally, each workout identifies a specific pair.

For running and cardio If you run outside or on the treadmill, choose (running) socks that are thin, seamless and moisture-regulating. Cotton can chafe, so choose socks that contain materials such as polypropylene, nylon and/or polyamide.

For on the (racing) bike
Outside on the road bike, your socks should keep your feet warm and wick away sweat. The best material for this is merino wool. If you cycle indoors, a light sock made of breathable materials is nice; yarns with polypropylene, polyamide and lycra have breathable fibers that keep your feet dry.

For yoga With the right yoga socks you have more grip on a yoga floor, which is often made of (smooth) wood. Choose socks with a non-slip bottom to allow your feet to move well, but not to slip when you are in a pose.

For strength training and HIIT Good training socks are made of stretchy, moisture wicking material and should have a supportive fit. A longer sock with woven ventilation provides air circulation and reinforced areas around the shins provide protection during intensive movements such as jumping.

For winter sports The right winter sports socks give your feet more support, protection, warmth and comfort than regular sports socks. Choose a long pair that is not loose around your leg, because sagging socks cause blisters. When socks contain merino wool, you know they regulate moisture and keep your feet warm at the same time.
