You can train to become more flexible. How flexible you can become also depends on your muscles and the position of your joints. With these 8 tips you get the best out of yourself.

1. Warm up your muscles well before stretching

Always warm up your muscles before stretching to reduce the risk of injury.

2. Hold the stretch long enough

Stretch until you feel a light stretch and then hold that pose for about half a minute. Don't bounce too much and don't force yourself.

3. Relax

Try to relax your body so that gravity can do its work.

4. Use your breath

Do not hold your breath while stretching, as this locks your body, as it were. Breathe out deeply when you want to progress.

5. Start with yoga

If you've been doing yoga regularly for a few weeks, you'll probably notice the difference. You don't have to be flexible to start with yoga.

6. Stretch after running

With running you build strength in your legs, in other words:short muscles. Therefore, always stretch your muscles after running.

7. Know what you are doing
